The undersigned residents of Garland -- believing that the public welfare will be greatly promoted by the existence and operation of the law restricting the sale of intoxicating drinks, passed at the last session of the Legislature, respectfully but earnestly remonstrate against its repeal.

Profoundly impressed with the conviction that the law of last sesion, entitled "An act to restrict the sale of intoxicating drinks," is wrong in principle, oppressive in detail, and calculated fearfully to increase the evils it was professedly designed to suppress, the undersigned, citizens of ______ [blank spot, not filled in] respectfully urge its unconditional appeal.
